1st post: TRENDFORECAST ON TRENDS BEING OUT turned orbitury on vivienne and demna

DEATH in (dying, fake funerals, death tributes, testimonies)

every year i write a trend forecast and i have done so for half a decade... the very first trendforecast was a pdf handed out only to the few lucky. it was written in 2018 for 2019 and was suggesting the ketamine cowboy (coined in 4 years later as ketamine chic) and referencing the diesel be stupid campaigns from the 10's. and who's a dumb bitch now? ppl out being cunty everywhere in their diesel belt skirts.. some years the trend forecast was just an instagram story, in 2020 i wrote that indie came back, made a tribute to freja beha and the acne atacoma wedge. its not hard to do this btw, its all just cycles. this was coined as indiesleaze in 2022 lol. then i wrote a few trendforecasts in a porn magazine, the formate was great but since the magazine was porn, it had to include points about sex and was just too sex negative for this. TMI... anyways so i needed somewhere else to write so i made this blog! cant wait to sit in the cafés sippin on my dirty chai giving hot takes on this. need to come up with a good name for it, but new years is coming up so i need to focus on the trendforecasting rn. this year it feels harder cus we have raised the bar in many ways and i think THE ABSENCE of trends is gonna be a trending in 2023... as in TRENDS ARE OUT. have also been busy with other things and then vivienne westwood died yesterday and i am trying to wrap my head around if this is bringing back the punk we thought was dead? DEATH is the always the biggest trend in pop culture. it never goes out of style. the minute i found out vivienne died my few VW items felt extra special and i wanted to own more. $$$. she was a genius but she also made punk high fashion. and then mainstream... which many came to repeat after her. to begin this blog lets start at the very end: DEATH.

balenciaga OUT (satanic panic)

bye bye balenciaga. (AN ORBITUARY) you made goth into funeral chic and now you have buried urself by apologising for it

dear demna gvasalia

you have fully understood the circle of trends and embodied it one of the oldest fashion houses known today because of you as an edgy brand. before you,  balenciaga was known as the inventer of the balloon and cocoon shape. i see how its smart to interprete these shapes into big hoodies but i know thats not why you did it. demna, you know where to look for STYLE which you interprete as TRENDS and you embodied this in balenciaga making it the most popular brand of a century.

we are taught that trends come from the runway and magazines, but really trends are styles found on kids in the suburbs, at the club, the rave, demonstrations etc. what some ppl call underground culture. but underground culture has iphones and tik tok now and in this silly little globalised world discovering trends have never been easier... anyone can look like anyone. rich looks poor and vice versa.

demna, you have understood this to the fullest and you enterpreted "underground" culture so well that you made it hard to tell who was the kid in the suburb and who was kim kardashian. making the rich look poor and the popstars look like goths and metal heads. sometimes i was even confused if i was wearing balenciaga or if balenciaga was wearing me. aesthetically blurring the lines between class to such an extend must have been your biggest achievement, so congrats!

but demna, what you call getting inspired, others call appropriating or stealing depending on who you ask.  Nicholas Ghesquières's infamous city bag (the original influencer bag) is a great example of inspiration. the biker jacket (from biker culture to punk to mainstream) made into a bag. its kinda visonary. and before that was Vivienne Westwood... but demna, you made the black, oversize, trashy look the DNA of balenciaga, and the goths and the clubkids probably felt robbed bcs of you. but to the public this look was no longer underground, this look was BALENCIAGA.
while Vivienne and Nicholas Ghesquières did the interpretation, Demna, you took the photos sent to you from ur visual researchers, skipped the interpretation and placed them directly on the runway. tbh its pretty genious but its also risky. cus when you dont interprete but just copy you blur out the distance. you become your copy. remember, being goth can be very scary and when u make an "edgy" campaign with children and bdsm and whatever, u have put urself on the spot... ppl and hillbillies out there thinking ur satan? and now u have started the SATANIC PANIC once again. (google it if u dont know) all press is good press, but u gotta handle with care. u out here for the ppl who buys ur shit or the ones u steal from? how are you gonna walk the thin line between the alt-right christians and super-left cancel culture?

demna, if you ask me you did no mistake putting out your teddy bear bdsm campaign besides being a lil boring. The harness has already traveled from the HORSE, to the DOM, to the to cirquit gay, to random berghain club girls, to the RUNWAY, to upcoming popstars, to popstars, to ali express.

the mistake u made was to apologise for it.
2015-2022 R.I.P.
